IOWA COURT REPORTERS ASSOCIATION

Megan McDermott, CSR

Originally from Monticello, Iowa.  I attended AIB College of Business in Des Moines and graduated in 2009.  Ended up taking my first job as a freelance reporter for Thomas and Thomas Court Reporters in Omaha, NE in 2010.  I worked there for over a year and then decided to move back to Eastern Iowa and freelanced on my own in that area for a few years.  I then made the decision to move to Des Moines in 2015 and become an official reporter in Polk County for Judge Louise Jacobs in juvenile court.  At the end of that year, I decided I wanted to be closer to family and accepted a position in the Sixth District working for a newly appointed district judge, Kevin McKeever, where I worked for two years.  I then decided to make the move to Dubuque and am now living there and working for Judge Thomas Straka, who is the juvenile judge in Dubuque County.

When not working, I enjoy going to Target way more than I should.  I’m a very proud aunt to two nieces and one nephew and like to spend as much time with them as possible.

I am very excited to be working with the board and am looking forward to everything ICRA has to offer.
